We vote with our dollars for the kind of world we want to live in, and with i=change, we can make our dollars count.
i=change is an organisation that allows businesses to filter a portion of their profits through to NGO’s generating immense social and environmental change. With i=change, $1 from every purchase made on Ethical Made Easy Store goes directly to one of three projects and charities: Clothe The Vulnerable, Thread Together; Empower With Literacy, The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation; and Restore The Land, Greening Australia.
You, as the change-making consumer, can choose exactly where your dollar goes.
Clothe The Vulnerable with Thread Together
We believe that clothes have the power to change lives. Thread Together proves that by providing new clothes to those in need. This includes women escaping domestic violence, homeless adults and children, and those who just arrived in the country seeking refuge.
Impact: $5 provides a new wardrobe to vulnerable people in need.
Empower With Literacy with The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation
Every Australian deserves to have the same opportunities in life. The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation is transforming lives through community-driven, ground-breaking and best practice literacy programs. Working in English and Indigenous First Languages, ALNF is committed to creating sustainable, long-term change.
Impact: $12 pays for a day of specialised literacy support in an Indigenous community.
Restore The Land with Greening Australia
The climate crisis is the single most important issue facing our generation and future generations. That’s why we support Greening Australia, a charity that aims to restore 330,000 hectares of native trees across Australia by 2030. Drawing on the expert input of Traditional Owners, scientists and local land managers, they will plant 500 million trees and shrubs to store carbon, create quality habitat for native wildlife, and restore degraded farmland. These 500 million trees and shrubs will absorb over 1.3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year by 2030, and reduce atmospheric carbon pollution.
Impact: $50 plants enough trees and shrubs to store 1 tonne of carbon dioxide.
We are proud to partner with i=change not only because of the positive change the social enterprise is helping to make, but also because of the ecosystem that has been created as a result. i=change allows companies to give consumers the power to actively choose where their money goes, and as a business that strives to set Tomorrow’s Standard in what it means to do good business, this is what we value the most.
We would also like to acknowledge that a lot of the brands featured on Ethical Made Easy Store give a portion of their own profits to charities and organisations as well. For example:
- BAIIA donates to More Than Me and Cool Earth, charities that provide education to girls and women in underprivileged communities and help preserve rainforests respectively;
- Hakea Swim partners with 1% For The Planet by donating 1% of their annual sales to conserve, to preserve, and to generate positive environmental change;
- The Dirt Company has donated $40,000 to date to The Ocean Cleanup, an organisation working to develop new technologies to rid our oceans of plastic.
Aside from already putting people and the planet over profit, these companies are going one step further and donating their own money to charities they believe need it most. This is what it means to do good business.
